Jean came to live at the Beatitudes Campus in the fall of 2011. She wanted to find a community where she could more easily engage in activities and games. Before coming to Beatitudes Campus Jean had lived in the Phoenix Metropolitan area since 1950, including the cities of Tempe and Scottsdale.
Since moving here, Jean has quietly taken on many responsibilities. These include helping out at Sunday Vespers, volunteering at the Help Desk in two resident buildings, and organizing game nights for the Campus. Jean makes sure residents feel welcome at games of Farkle, Chicken Feet, and Pay Me, and she helps newcomers learn the games that they may not already know.
Jean feels that her role in organizing games helped her adjust to life on Campus when she moved here; it helped her meet new people and know how to help them. Jean’s advice to residents just moving in is to find one thing that you are really interested in, and let that guide you as you become familiar with your surroundings. As she says, the best thing is finding “a place full of people who enjoy being together,” and that is something she has done quite well.
